SMB News – October 2024

Another quarter has passed, and another tranch of new updates to the SMB platform have landed following on from fantastic feedback from clients and partners. Here’s what you can find live in the system today:

Per-Type Document Access

To improve the flexibility of document permissions, clients can now optionally select document types to grant access when setting up permissions for a user.

Right To Work has its own access permission

We’ve slightly extended permissions to break access to “Right to work” into its own permission option, meaning admin users can have access to employee documents (by type if needed), to Right To Work documentation, either or neither.

Future Employees can be hidden from the Company Directory

A minor update for the Company Directory means you can decide whether future employees – employees whose records you have added but have not yet started – should be included in the Company Directory.

Public Holidays can be excluded for employees

Until now, an employee working a full year with public holidays assigned would automatically have all public holidays booked as absence, even if they worked on those days. You can now select individual public holidays to exclude for an employee so, if they have to work on a public holiday, that day is returned to their bookable allocation.

Updates to Length of Service calculations

In a recent update, we amended the Length of Service code to use the details in the employee’s Job History, to ensure that any gaps in service were not counted towards the total Length of Service. Some of you have asked if it is possible to reinstate the previous calculation, which was a straight line from the employee’s start date to today. Now you can – in the Administration area you can select which method you wish to use.

Expenses VAT Rates

We’ve improved recording and management of expense items by adding the ability to automatically calculate VAT amounts based on the Net or Gross value entered when adding an expense item as well as the ability to create unlimited rates of VAT or local taxes.

As always, we hope you find these updates useful and look forward to more of your great suggestions!
