What is Basic Request Mode?

Basic Request Mode is an easy way for employees to request full or half day absences without needing to enter the start and end times for an absence. With Basic Mode enabled, an employee is presented with a form which allows them to firstly select if the requested absence is for a single day or multiple days.

If the absence is for a single day, the employee can select whether it is a full day absence, the first half of the day or the second half of the day.

If the absence is for a multiple day absence, the employee can select whether the first day’s absence is a full day, or should start from the second half of the day and whether the final day of the absence should be a full day or only the first half of the day.

If an employee is set to Basic Request mode, they can still switch to Advanced Mode and enter start and end times for the absence, should they want to create an absence request other than a full or half day.

Note: Basic Request Mode should only be applied to employees who work regular hours through the week, for example full time employees, as the system uses their standard working hours and working day length to calculate the times for a half day absence. Setting an employee to Basic Mode who work irregular hours may result in unexpected absence lengths when requesting partial day absences.
