How do I change an employee's start date?

If you have added an employee to the system and set an incorrect start date for their employment, you will find that their holiday and sickness allocations are not correct (as in, they are calculated based on the date you have entered). To correct this, you will need to first change the start date on their employee record. To do this, select "Employees" from the main menu and navigate to the employee you wish to update. When you reach the employee dashboard, open the employee menu by clicking on the arrow at the top of the page and select "Edit" to edit the employee's details.

On the form that is displayed, scroll down to the "Date Started" field and select the start date and click "Update" at the bottom of the form to save the changed date. This will update the employee's record, but has not changed their employment history information. You'll need to make one more change in order to correct the holiday allocation for this employee.

If you open the employee menu by clicking on the arrow at the top of the employee page and select "Working Hours", you'll notice that the working hour record for the employee still starts at the previous start date. To correct this, delete the existing record by clicking the "Delete" button. A dialog box will appear to tell you that, as this is the only record for this employee, a new one will need to be created to replace the one you are deleting. Select the correct working hour pattern for this employee and click the "Delete" button to confirm the removal of the original record. The screen will refresh and you will see that the working hour record now shows the correct start date. If you check the employee's holiday allowance, you'll see that this too has been corrected to show the full amount of holiday based on the new start date.

In addition, you may want to update the employee's Job record and Salary records (found in the employee menu under "Job History" and "Money" to ensure these also show the correct start date.
