The Bradford Factor, often also known as the Bradford Formula, is a common calculation used to measure worker absenteeism. The theory behind the calculation is that short, frequent absences are more disruptive to an organisation than fewer, longer absences.
The calculation is: (Number of absences X Number of absences) X total amount of absence in a given rolling period.
The default period in SMB is 6 months. If you wish to set your own calculation duration, then go to the “Administration” option on the main menu, then select “Default Holiday Allocation/Bradford Factor Settings” from the Administration page.
On the form that is presented, update the Bradford Factor Duration values to values that may be more appropriate for your organisation or, if you wish, you can change the duration to a fixed 12 month period rather than a rolling period and click “Save” to store the changes.
